The Agape Community Presents Our Annual St. Francis Day Celebration

Eric Wasileski ? 1998 Combat Veteran of bombings of Baghdad.

The Lucey Family- Jeffrey Lucey, combat veteran in the current war in Iraq, suffering from post traumatic stress disorder took his own life.

? Megan Bartlett- Ground Zero For Peace, 9/11 First Responders Against the Iraq War.

? Environmentalists will speak on alternative living and energy as lifestyle and non-cooperation against the ongoing war in Iraq.

Speakers and Performers: Storyteller George Cappaccio; Fran Reagan and Lynne Smith, musicians; Holyoke Acapella Choir; John and Carrie Schuchardt trip to Hiroshima for 60th anniversary; Brayton Shanley Constructive Program and Non-cooperation.

Living Nonviolence: Building Peace

PRESENTERS: Liz McAlister is a nationally known lecturer and peacemaker. She and her late husband Phil Berrigan, founded Jonah House in Baltimore in 1973. The community members of Jonah House seek to live a life grounded in gospel nonviolence. Liz is a Plowshares Peace Activist and has lectured on non-violent resistance, community, prayer, and peacemaking throughout the U.S. and Canada. She and her husband co-authored a book: The Time’s Discipline about their Jonah House experiences. Her writings have appeared in NCR, Sojourners, Maryknoll, and other publications. Liz is a prophetic peacemaker for our times.

*Suzanne & Brayton Shanley are educators, retreat directors and committed peace activists. In 1982 they founded Agape, a community experiment in Christian living in Ware, MA. Life at Agape combines gospel nonviolence with simplicity of living and commitment to prayer. Their work has taken them throughout the U.S. and Canada. They offer training in peer mediation and conflict resolution. The Shanleys are involved in Death Row Outreach, and prison ministry, where they teach non-violence and conflict resolution. Their leadership in living a nonviolent lifestyle is an inspiration to all peacemakers.
